1Q84 Dust Jacket Redesign
Book Jacket

Fall 2024
Typography II
InDesign, Photoshop

This reimagining of the dust jacket for Haruki Murakami’s “1Q84” is meant to evoke the mysterious, other-worldly, and dreamy of the novel while using photographed 3D typography.

The images in this project were created using a smashed mirror, 3D printed type suspended by wires, and manipulation of light and shadow. This dust jacket hope to give a surreal and dreamlike feeling without relying on previous iterations of this cover. Elements on the covers such as the broken glass showcasing the breaking or reality, the typography being consumed, or the ominous question mark are all working in harmony to give the viewer a preview of what the book will entail.

Final deliverable:  Full dust jacket with 6.25in x 9.25in covers, 1.5in x 9.25in spine, and 3.8in x 9.25in flaps.
